Dust Storm Breach on the Westside
A sudden June dust storm ripped through Madera’s Westside neighborhood, toppling 40 feet of temporary silt fencing around a grading site near Lincoln Park. The air filled with stinging grit, and loose soil began drifting toward adjacent properties. With weekend permitting inspections looming and neighbors already complaining, the developer faced potential stop-work orders if containment wasn’t restored before Monday morning.
We rolled out within two hours of the call, bringing extra-wide panels and ground anchors suited for dry, loose soil. Our crew worked through the evening heat—94 degrees at 7 p.m.—resetting fence lines and reinforcing posts with gravel ballast. By sunrise, the site passed inspection, and the developer avoided costly delays. The restored barrier held firm through the next week’s high winds.
They showed up fast, worked clean, and got us back on schedule before the sun even came up.
